Don't Reward Yourself with Food

By using food as a reward for living a healthy lifestyle, it puts eating healthy in the "negative reinforcement" category. When healthy habits themselves are considered a reward, it's only natural that you will consistently work towards those goals.

Restraining from using food as a reward, however, doesn’t mean you can’t indulge every once in a while. The key is to be conscious of high calorie, highly saturated foods, and knowing your portion sizes. It’s healthier to indulge (with control) every now and then, than to completely cut yourself off from sweet snacks.
Other ways you can “ reward ” yourself is by creating a non-food related goal to fulfill after your healthy meals. Watch an episode of your favorite TV show, explore a new attraction in your city, or treat yourself to a bubble bath.
